Teachers of a seven-year-old with epilepsy were reduced to tears when they witnessed her incredible recovery thanks to cannabis oil.

Ava Barry has Dravet’s Syndrome – a rare, drug-resistant form of epilepsy that can leave her suffering hundreds of debilitating seizures a day.

The attacks can last between two minutes and two hours at a time.

But since starting CBD oil in October these have plummeted.

Her mother Vera Twomey, from Aghabullogue Co Cork, said: “Her own teachers at school have tears in their eyes when they tell us that how much more engaging she is in school now.

“Ava is after getting stronger every day. She is able to walk better and she is standing up straighter because I believe she is in less pain.

“We are getting to really know another part of our daughter we wouldn’t have got the opportunity to meet only for this oil coming into her life.”

Vera has spent been campaigning since 2015 to get the oil her daughter needs through a doctor and on prescription.
