The colon is the last part of the large intestine. It plays several important roles in the body – it controls the water balance, it keeps the immune system strong and last, but not least, supports digestion.
The colon accounts for proper body function and overall health because the body elimination process largely depends on it. It means that if the colon is not working properly, toxic waste can’t be eliminated and will be absorbed in the organism instead.
The entire digestion takes about 24 hours. However, unhealthy food, such as highly processed one, or food low in vitamins and enzymes, can significantly slow down digestion. When diet is unhealthy, the body needs up to 70 hours to digest this food. This results in serious health implications as waste accumulates in the body leading to toxic overload.
